Leading the Race To The Top

An EdVoice Documentary

Applied Paradigms managed an effort to implement substantive changes in
education code in order to apply for a portion of $4.5 billion in federal funding.
Known as President Obama's Race To The Top, we overcame incredible
opposition by some of the state's most powerful special interest
groups, with a multi-faceted media campaign.

We filmed and produced a documentary that was mass-produced and mailed
to approximately 5,000 local elected officials, parent groups, charter schools
and teachers.

We also created an online "video wall" that highlights politicians' own
words in supporting and opposing the Race To The Top legislation.

Concurrently, we ran an earned-media campaign where we traveled the
state meeting with editorial boards at major news dailies; wrote and placed
opinion pieces; and packaged news segments for weekend television magazine
shows. EdVoice's efforts appeared in print, online, radio and television news
outlets from San Francisco to Los Angeles to New York.
