About Our Team
Marva Diaz
Marva Diaz is a political media, public affairs, and issue advocacy consultant. Marva has managed advocacy campaigns on behalf of health care providers, education advocates, labor unions, governance reform groups, and political candidates for federal, state and local office.
Prior to her current position with Applied Paradigms, Marva served as Legislative Director for the California State Assembly Speaker Pro Tempore. There she managed the composition and passage of landmark legislation that increased the state’s minimum wage, reduced green house gases and improved public health. She has staffed multiple legislators on policy committee subjects including budget, health, human services, higher education, labor and employment, natural resources, environmental safety and toxic materials, and revenue and taxation. She also worked with industry leaders, advocacy associations and elected representatives at all levels of government to assist them in navigating the Byzantine regulatory and political processes of California.
Marva manages the advertising and marketing campaigns for the Web as well as direct mail. She oversees the yearly production of 15 to 20 million pieces of direct mail while managing multi-million dollar advertising budgets for dozens of regional and national clients.
During a short stint working for the U.S. House of Representatives, Marva Diaz came into contact with the United Farm Workers, the national labor organization founded by civil rights leader Cesar Chavez. She later became involved in the launch of the not-for-profit Black Eagle Wines, a Napa Valley-appellation, on behalf of the United Farm Workers and now sits on its board of directors.
After graduating from University of California, Davis with a degree in Economics, Marva settled in Sacramento where she now lives with her husband and their two sons.
